Gorgeous, sexy, and deadly

Mermaids. Lots of mermaids. Johnny Depp. A budding mermaid-human relationship. Those are basically why I tolerated and sat through Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

I’m not a fan of the Pirates  series but I find Johnny Depp amusing and funny. He’s like a gay pirate, but wittier and manlier (Did I just made sense here?). Anyway, back to mermaids!

Call me a kid but am I the only one who swooned over the Syrena (Astrid Berges-Frisbey) and Philip (Sam Claflin) tandem? Nakakakilig! I want to buy the DVD once it’s out and then replay their scenes over and over. Or I could just download it or something. Duh.

When I think of mermaids, I think of Ariel of The Little Mermaid; sweet, innocent, and playful. And then Peter Pan in 2003 (featuring Jeremy Sumpter) portrayed them as monsters with really bad teeth.

Okay, I’m rambling. I ramble and become incoherent when I’m in awe. So, just go ahead and check the video. It’s not in HQ, though. It’s one of the few scenes I vividly remember.

This particular scene is so eerie and enchanting at the same time, that I got goosebumps all over! I’ve had My Jolly Sailor Bold reverberating in my head for days now. Syet!

How about you? Have you seen Pirates 4? How was it?

Now Playing: Look at Me Now – Chris Brown ft. Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne

Wowed at Busta Rhymes’s rap part. Must memorize! I have the lyrics up and I still can’t sing along.

My readers, my loves!

When I created this blog, I thought no one would notice my previous site’s shutdown. I mean, I’m mildly surprised how some people actually took a fraction of their time reading my political angst-related post and other nonsensical narrations. Ugh. No wonder  that blog didn’t live–it’s mostly melodramatic trash!

While I was tweaking Our Daily Pancake prior to its ‘launching’ a month ago, a couple of friends and acquaintances started asking my previous blog’s whereabouts.  Wow. Out of the bajillion humans that go online, there are a handful of individuals that actually care of what I think.

Aww, you guys.. Thank you!

And because I was touched, I’ve took screen shots of your Facebook posts and Twitter mentions. I just want to immortalize it before it gets buried in my timeline. Babaw! 😛

I blocked their names and my name for privacy reasons, by the way. Anyway, the screen shot above is by my high school friend, AC’s. My co-dance enthusiast and Sweet Valley series lover.

And then there’s Shirly, a kind and sweet girl whom I’ve met during my days at the fast food store (more on that someday). Incredibly smart and hardworking, this one. And a car accident survivor to boot!

My neighbor, Mina, who’s actually a friend of my sister’s. Normally, I wouldn’t like people in my neighborhood reading stuff from or about me but she’s an exception. She’s a newbie blogger, too, so if you could, please make her feel welcome here.

And how can I forget the consistently pretty and youthful, Ate Irene? I bet her male patients (she’s a nurse) fall in love at the sight of her. She looks waaaay younger than her actual age. She also blogs at Anything Under the Sun.

Again, my heartfelt gratitude who morally supports my writing, both offline and online. It’s definitely better than a thousand blog hits a day!

Now Playing: Blurry – Puddle of Mudd

I’ve always dreamed of playing my guitar in front of a massive audience. Yung tipong wasted na yung mga tao and everyone’s going wild. My choice of piece would be this:

*Favorite line: Everyone is changing / there’s no one left that’s real / to make up your own ending / and let me know just how you feel

Blurry is one of my all-time favorite alternative rock songs dating way back in 2002. I was just a high school sophomore and I already listened to this. My parents almost went berserk whenever I play songs of such type. Para daw akong lalake because I like really loud music. Haha.

Oh well, I turned out okay so I guess they absolutely have nada to worry about.

Is that a smoking wabbit?

Or more specifically, a weed-smoking hare?

I was at Park Square, Makati last night to look at laptops when I decided to stop by JB Music to shop for a new guitar pick. Among the others that are waiting in those little plastic compartments the two old lads at the shop showed me, this one took my fancy: It doesn’t bend too much when strummed and melds just right with any type of string. Perfect.

Apparently, the smoking rabbit is a Frank Kozik design. He’s an artist who’s work was graphically compelling as well as culturally gripping. Kozik has hundreds of full-color, limited edition, silk screened posters under his belt for such renowned artists as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beastie Boys.

I know, I Google-d. Here’s his site.

I like my smoking rabbit. Cute but not too cute. The second graphic on the first row kinda reminds me of one of the singing vultures in the Disney cartoon, The Jungle Book.

Overall, it’s not the design that matters to me. As long as it does my strumming jobs well, then I’m good. Though it doesn’t hurt if it does have a kickass look.

Let the rocking commence!

Limit your ‘always’ and your ‘nevers.’ -Amy Poehler

Yesterday, I was at my beloved Adamson University, my college alumni, to pick up my ultra-heavyweight, super-duper thick yearbook. It was a spur-of-the-moment decision so I had to hurry back to work, which, by the way, really blew. Must schedule another drop-by soon.

Anyhoot, that impromptu visit deserves a whole new post. So before I get too sentimental and all, I’m just gonna share with you this amazing commencement speech by the hysterical Amy Poehler for now. I know, another shared video. Duh.

Harvard University’s class of 2011 surely was in for a laugh. What a way to end the student life!
