Now Playing: Coffee and TV – Blur

Monday’s not being too good to me today. But I remember what my Mama told me: “Start the day right, especially if it’s the start of the week.”

And start the day right, I will!

So I devised a battle plan and gathered my armor: a whispered prayer, a bag of Skittles, and this:

Coffee and TV is an old song but it still sounds refreshing even after a thousand and one repeats on my iTunes. Classic.

Check the video out. If you don’t find the little travelling milk carton insanely cute, ewan ko na lang!

Why I stopped caring about my blog stats

Aside from having major privacy issues, I set my two previous blogs on private because I felt that those sites weren’t me anymore. It’s just a toss up between an angst-ridden journal and a platform where I could do ten-dollar posts. In other words, it was a screaming sellout. I had to virtually shove my blog to people’s faces because the more visitors I make, the more paid posts I get.

And then it hit me: I realized that when I care about numbers, I lose who I am as a writer. And I don’t like that very much at all!

You see, I’ve been blogging since 2003. Back then it was filled with lots and lots of kababawan posts. But I was happy. I was a happy teen blogger, to be exact. I never had to impress people with what I have to say. I blogged ’til my time at the Internet cafe was up (wala pa kasi kaming Internet sa bahay noon!).

Of course, now that I’m a full-grown woman (naks!), it’s just proper that I polish my words a bit but still maintain that same level of silliness, care-freeness, and joviality that I had with my earliest blogs before. No more of those boo-hoo-hoo-my crush-didn’t-notice-me-today kind of entries. But in fairness ha, my old posts always brings a smile–mostly guffaws–every time I read them!

So if you want to know me more, read this blog. It’s that simple. I’d love to see your thoughts in the comments section below. 🙂

Show and tell: The chick behind Solara Swimwear’s website

I have news, you guys!  C–my gorgeous and talented friend–and I have a baby. It took us more or less two months to make this ‘baby’ come to life. And I must admit, it was hard work. BUT, we had so much fun in the process, that all the the sleepless nights (I dedicated an entire weekend to write the stuff you’ll be reading in there!) and consumed time was definitely worth it! So, without further ado, I present you:

SolaraSwimwear.com!

Almost everything you’ll read in the website is courtesy by yours truly (ahem!). Yep, I’m the chick behind the words and catchphrases. I’m so proud of this project; It’s is my biggest one to date and I’m overwhelmed that these girls picked me to be part of something special in their lives. By the way, Solara Swimwear has a Facebook page. It would mean a lot if you guys click on the ‘Like‘ button. Whoa, you’re done ‘liking’ it already? That fast? Wow, thanks! 😛

Sandra in a Pearl Monokini

Working with the equally sweet and stunning Sandra Seifert and Maggie Wilson-Consunji was a pleasure. At first, I honestly thought, “Oh, crap we’re gonna deal with prima donnas!” But beneath their svelte bodies and flawless skin lies kind and down-to-earth individuals. Really! I love them girls to bits!

Maggie in a Ruby Red Bow Bikini (my personal favorite!)

Eto ha, this is not a biased opinion but when I say that Solara Swimwear makes a sturdy pair of bikini, they REALLY DO make a sturdy pair of bikini. Hence, you can practically wear it over and over again in, say, about 20 years tops?  It’s a good swim garb investment for those who love frolicking in the the water. I’m no swimsuit guru but I know a good one when I see and feel it. I just know it!

Go get your own pair here or here. How much do these bikinis cost? Sikret! Haha, kidding. It’s all in the website so make sure you take a look. Please? Pretty please with cherries on top? Sige na, pagbigyan nyo na ako, ‘no! 😀

Mary Grace now on Greenbelt 3

One of the things I love about my workplace is that I’m just a stone’s throw away from Greenbelt. My colleagues and I–if there’s still money left on our wallets–sometimes troop to the mall to grab a bite to eat or simply kill time.

Today’s afternoon itinerary was at the newly opened Mary Grace just along the Greenbelt 3 strip. Two of my closest officemates got apple pies and brownies. I, on the other hand, just wandered around this corner:

The sign reads, “Women’s CAN DO corner.” It’s pretty neat that an arts and crafts corner has been set up to keep diners amused while waiting for their pastries. This wooden stall sells hand-made trinkets, books, and perfumes.

Hold up–perfumes?

What made me curious about these bottled scents is that they are named in Filipino words! This, in particular, is named, ‘Ulan‘. It’s the only scent I found interesting. Others are (the ones I remember) Ngiti, Lambing, Tiwala, Dalisay, and Sulyap. Each bottle is closed in a crocheted cap and sealed in a zip-lock bag, similar to a medium-size tetra pak. Know more about them at  http://simoyngharaya.multiply.com/.

These lovely hand-written notes from customers are plastered on every table.  On my next visit, I’m gonna add mine. I’ll scribble something like, “Ara was here and wolfed down a whole cheesecake in one minute! Beat that, punk!” No? Oh, alright.

Now Playing: Price Tag – Jessie J

Alright, people! Wipe those frowns and dry those tears on the double! While you’re at it, why don’t you plug in some earphones/speakers, crank up the volume, and listen to this?

click [here] for lyrics

I swear, this song is an instant pick-me-upper! It’s been on about a million (and counting) repeats on my iPod. Okay, that’s a bit exaggerated–maybe a thousand. There.

If I weren’t at the office right now, I’ll be dancing my butt off and singing in front of the mirror with a brush as a mic. Oh well, I guess I have to content myself with bobbing my head for now.

So for those who are not having such a good day, week, month, year, decade, or century, lend your ears to this song. ‘Ya want the mp3? Sure! Leave a comment below and I’ll send it to your e-mail straight away–free of charge! Why? Because it’s not about the money, money, money! We don’t need your money, money, money! We just wanna make the woooorld dance! Forget about the priiiiice taaaaag!

Err.. Anyway, I’m hope y’all having a great day like I am. Sending you feel-good vibes all the way from sunny Manila, Philippines!

And oh–thank you, Jessie J!

Chronic cuteness

Kids literally grow up fast these days. I sometimes wonder where the heck do they get their growth spurts. Is it the milk? The incessant bawling at night? Or the endless flow of energy in their veins?

Take my nephew, for example. He used  to be this charming little angel (he still is, by the way!) who just laughs and smiles and keeps still when told to. He’s now a year and 9 months old as I type this. This photo was taken a month ago:

A month after, this cutie critter  is now a bit cranky and will not stay put even for a second!  He climbs chairs and tables, puts his pudgy fingers in a spinning fan, and fakes tears just to get what he wants. Bad, bad boy!

Sometimes, I get mad when he launches into one of his crying fits. This photo was taken last night, by the way. He kept still when I showed him a video from my phone. Anyhoo, this hyperactive darling gets his way by doing the puppy-dog eyes. Who could resist that? I sure could not! Nakakagigil! I’m just hoping that my nephew won’t grow up to be such an arrogant and stubborn kid. Because if he does, lagot ka kay Tita Claire!

Ah, home. (I hope!)

Hey, guys! Welcome to my new blog. Well,  it’s actually not that new because I just transferred some of my entries from my old blog. I’m Claire Waldork, by the way. It’s not my real name; I won’t  be using my real one because I have privacy issues.

There’s a couple of things you should know about me: I love chocolates, fresh milk, and pancakes! (Who doesn’t?!) So, if you want to get on my good side, bring any of the above. Or better yet, all of ’em.

I also love the idea of anonymity. And this blog gives me the sense of a fresh start–like a steaming batch of newly flipped pancakes  topped with maple syrup, strawberries, butter, and blueberries. Are you drooling yet?

Anyway! Speaking of starting anew, forgive me for the site is not yet at its best state. It’s still in the works but hopefully it’ll pick up soon. If I ain’t posting anything new, you can always find me here:

Raise your hand if you like pancakes!

Now that my “mini-launching” is done for the day, I’ll now head back to reality–work. See ya around!
